How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, my life is different in that I was able to finally complete my house that had almost failed me for many years. I had already put up a wall but failed to finish as I had a lot of pending issues like fees for my children. Although my family and I are still using the grass thatched house, I am confident that I will be relieved from the burden of time to time renovation of the hut.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by bringing money directly to households unlike other organizational that involve a lot of bureaucracy and people end up having little or nothing. On the other hand, there is nothing that GiveDirectly has done bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my entire second transfer to buy twenty five pieces of iron sheets, timber, nails and pay labor that I used to roof my big house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
There is a change in my life, this transfer has enabled me pay school fees for my children and I am stress free. I have hope of completing my house soon having purchased the iron sheets. I solely relied on seasonal harvest for income that I could spend on construction which was not reliable and was taking longer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer I felt happy and stayed calm. This came as an opportunity for me to roof my house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer for buying 25 iron sheets at UGX 1,000,000 , nails at UGX 100,000. I paid school fees at UGX 300,000. I saved UGX 200,000 and spent the balance on food.
