How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because if I never received the transfer I would not have been able to solve so many problems in my home because I did not have any money. I have managed to start building a bigger and better house house for me and my family compared to the old small house we are staying in now. I never thought I would ever have a house that has a proper roof in my life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well in the way it helps people with no strings attached. So many people in my village have build better houses with iron sheet roofs (before we have poor houses with grass roofs), we have been able to buy enough food for our families which is something that was not easy to do and we have also bought mattresses and have better comfortable place to sleep. The is nothing I have seen that GD does not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have spent my transfers from GD on buying things like maize , fertilizer and blankets. I have bought fertilizer because this will help me with my farming so that I have enough food in my home . I bought blankets because I and my family did not have enough beddings in our home. The money was also used to pay school fees for my son who was chased from school since I did not have any money to pay his school fees. Lastly I have started building a house with the transfers from GD. I am staying in a small house that has a grass roof, but I am building a bigger house with iron sheet roof so that I and my family live more comfortably
