How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am happy that I do pay school fees for my two children on time. Seeing them very happy and motivated to quench the thirst for education which every child envy is the change that GiveDirectly has given to me and my children. This is something that I would have never received without this transfer. I actually managed to buy a dairy cow which gives me three litters of milk in a day. I have been taking them to a cool plant and thereafter get paid every month. I will be forever grateful for the support that GiveDirectly gave me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly gave the poorest household in my community money which was non refundable and the beneficiaries made decision on how to use the money . I can proudly say that most of those who benefited from the money bought livestock which was a transformation to their living standards because livestock is a sign of wealth in my community.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 45,000 KES of my second transfer to buy livestock this includes a dairy cow and its calf. Before, I didn't have livestock since my income could barely sustain my family's needs hence own livestock was impossible hence I was left to admire my neighbor's.I bought a sack of maize, utensils and clothing for my children .

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a happy person because I have been able to start a poultry keeping project. I will be using the income from this project to cater for my family needs and pay for my children's school fees on time. It will also always keep me busy when I do not find any casual work to do in my village.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received my first transfer, my heart was filled with happiness beyond explanation. This is because it was my first time to receive such amount in my entire life. I knew that I would be able to improve my life using these transfers.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my recent transfer, I took some amount and used it to buy building materials which majorly included timber, iron sheets, nails, windows, doors and also paid a mason who would be involved in the building of a house for my family. I settled on building a bigger house for my family since I was living in a one-room house which could not accommodate us comfortably. My children used to sleep at their grandmother's place. I used the remaining amount to start a poultry keeping project by buying some chicken and building a chicken coop since I did not have any. I decided to start a poultry keeping project so that it will act as my source of income. I preferred this project since it can be easily managed alongside other projects. Also, I bought some home clothes for my family and new school uniforms for my children to replace the old ones which were worn out.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that i will soon be owning a dairy cow since i usually spend alot of money daily buying milk for family consumption. This means i will be able to save the money i usually spend in buying milk to support other family needs. I will use part of the money to build an iron roofed house then use the small hut we live in as kitchen
What is the happiest part of your day?
I usually spend my day working as a nanny in my neighbour's home from morning till evening, when i head back home to rest with my family, which is the time i am most happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being a polygamous household, our spouse struggles in providing for both of us. My co- wife has two children studying in college and two in secondary school. Our husband spends most of his income that comes from engaging in casual jobs in paying their schoolfees. On my side, i feel neglected since i got needs that he terms as unnecesarry. I have ended up working as a nanny for a neighbour who is a tutor in a school nearby so as to earn some income to enable me provide food for my three children despite the fact that i have a two months old baby. This is the biggest hardship i have faced
