What did you spend your third transfer on?
I used a portion of the transfer to pay my two children in high school fee. I bought a cow with a portion of the remaining transfer. I also purchased foodstuffs for family consumption.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I now have cows which will provide my family with free milk in the near future.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, what GD does well is that it purely help the very poor in the community. Even though it has help us all this much, I wish it could continue getting us monthly support.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on paying cultivating fees for my farm 15,000 KES and bought seed 5,000 KES to plant on my farm. I bought a calf 20,000 KES and one and half bag of maize for my family's consumption 7350 KES . I also bought decent clothes for the entire family with the remaining amount.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am currently peaceful at heart and happy since I have cultivated my farm on time and at the end of this harvesting season, I am assured of food security in my household and good nutrition as well. Thanks to GiveDirectly.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on tractor hire for ploughing 1 acre of land ( 4,000 KES) and also bought 2 bags of dry corn for food since my family was almost starving (6,000 KES)
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my money I was more than happy because I had been waiting for it eagerly to enable me accomplish some of my plans.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I plan to buy oxen to help me prepare my farm for sugar cane farming which is more profitable in this area.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I did sugarcane farming which helped me build my house and this is the only achievement I can talk of, though I still feel I have not achieved a lot in life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The casual jobs I depend on are mostly farming related hence the biggest hardship is securing any since we are in a dry spell.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy most part of the day. The time when am happiest is during harvest seasons in the months of July and August since we get relieve from food scarcity.
