Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has improved because I was able to acquire proper mattress and a bed. I now sleep comfortably. Previously, I slept on a torn mattress and on the floor. Secondly, I have hopes of building a pernanent house since I already bought some of the building materials.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very excited because I never excepted to get this unconditional cash transfer from GiveDirectly. At first I did not have National ID.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought building materials ( iron sheets, timber and 2 trips of sand ) worth UGX 1,000,000, bought household goods ( a bed, mattress and a pair of bed sheets) worth UGX 270,000, bought food worth UGX 200,000, rented farm land worth UGX 100,000 and paid medical bills worth UGX 30,000. There is a balance of UGX 100,000

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive this money, I will build a low cost ironsheets house because grass is scarce and expensive. I will also buy bulls and an ox-plough because we have been just hiring. This will help us save some money that we have been spending on hiring the ploghing services and also generate for us more income because we shall also hire out.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening because it is usually the time I get done with most of the day's work and sitted together as a family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of enough food because there is limited land to practice on agriculture.
