How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I had never received the transfer in that I was able to start livestock rearing a reliable source of livelihood for my family. Back in the days, I was depending on casual labor of charcoal vending which was low-paying and laborious. Furthermore, my kids are learning without any distraction due to lack of school fees. In addition, I was able to purchase clothes for the kids, they are now wearing proper clothes like other children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well for helping extremely poor households like myself. This has raised our living standard because we have used the aid wisely on development projects.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the transfer on educating my 2 child by paying their school fees and purchase school uniform. This is because they where constantly send back home due to lack of school fees something that troubled my mind. I also $150 purchase 3 goats in order to boost my livestock rearing which I have begun with my first transfer. In addition, I used $100 purchased clothes for every member of family. I was very ashamed watching my children old and wearing worn out clothes. This has lowered my self-esteem since my kids were constantly mocked by their colleagues due to the conditions of their clothes. This kept me worried because I was failing to provide for basic needs for the family like other parents.

I want to keep these livestock so that as they reproduce and increase in number, I will be able sale to them to raise money in order to start a business.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was desiring to buy some livestock which include a cow and two goats. I spent KES 26500 to buy these livestock. These are to me assets which I can depend on for my children who are still young. I also bought some uniforms and stationery for my child to go to school and set aside KES 20000 for this purpose. I spent the remaining amount on buying some foodstuffs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a business minded person but lack of capital is what has been pulling me back. With this money from Give Directly ,I will be able to open a grocery business. I will be moving door to door selling vegetables,fruits and other groceries depending on the demand. I will start by investing 50 USD in the business. I also have a plan of rearing goats. I will begin by buying 5 goats each at a cost of 30 USD. Goats multiply very fast and and I know will be a good investment for me within a short time.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I spend the morning hours in my farm before coming back home to do the house chores. I then go fetch firewood and water before evening sets in. Evening comes as a big relief to me because I take time to take a shower and relax after a busy day. This makes evening the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial constraints is what has been my biggest hardship. I am a mother of two who is ready to do any kind of job so that my children can live a good life. However,this jobs have not been available especially around our village. Sometimes I think of going to the urban areas to look for employment but I think of how my children will survive in the country side without me. Little income from my small business of selling cooked food cannot sustain the many needs that I have.
