How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has been different, I have now embarked in livestock farming which will now be supplementing my farm produce. I will be able to sell milk from my cows and the profit I get from the sale will plough back on my farm to increase my productivity. My children can learn with ease. Education is the best gift a parent can give to his children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well to improve the lives of the people. I have seen some constructing houses, buying livestock and investing in new businesses. I have personally progressed and I am very grateful. I have invested in livestock farming and I am able to provide my family with milk as well as selling the surplus to my neighbours. I have been able to take my children to school with ease. We have renamed the transfer from GiveDirectly as " school fees" in our village because when we received, it coincided with the opening of schools in our country. In my opinion GiveDirectly has done nothing wrong, other than empowering the lives of the poor in the society.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have invested in livestock farming by buying two cows. I will be able to provide milk for my family and also sell the surplus to my neighbours to generate income. I also supported my child's education. He was joining secondary school this year and I am very grateful to GiveDirect for making it possible. I would want my son to have success in his life and to be able to take care of me in future when I am old. I also bought a solar panel in instalment. This has helped to provide light in my house, charge phone and listen to the radio. Initially, I was using a tin lamp, my children were coughing from the soot. Right now they are well and can concentrate on learning at night without straining much.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference that this transfer has brought in my daily life is that I now own assets in the form of livestock ,that is, oxens and goats. I am also able to provide food for my family since this was a challenge to me for long.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the transfer, I was happier than ever, filled with joy that couldn't be comprehended. I felt like all my problems that have been a thorn into my flesh had come to an abrupt end. The peace in my heart was rejuvenated again
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Our area is seriously affected by unreliable rainfall and during good days of the year, the rains may be adequate enough to help produce good harvests. This could only be achieved through proper, timely and good planting techniques. Due to this, I spent my first transfers to buy a pair of oxen that will enable me to quicken land preparations in order to obtain a good harvest to ensure food is available for my family. I also spent part of my transfer to buy three goats which I plan to keep as assets. I can later sell them and raise money when there is a need to pay school fees for my children. I also purchased food for my family since this was a challenge for me due to my low income from casual work.
