I am living alone in my family and I depend on agriculture for survival. I have been hiring pipes and sprayer for around $100 every for every season. This reduces the profit I make every season. I normally get $ 200 in a very productive season. I will use $500 to buy pipes, sprayer, fertilizer and other farm inputs. This will boost my profit to $300 every season. I will also use $300 to boost my poultry-rearing work and ensure that I get a good harvest of approximately $150 after making sell of the poultry. I have a wider market at Matanomane where I will be supplying chicken to the food kiosks. I am grateful for the program.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Since the year started I have struggled with life because of the drought that is in our village. Agriculture has been really supporting me over years. It is this year that I have gone without food for even a week. I tried to get relief food from the government but in vain. If things go worse I get help from neighbours and refund them once I get my own food. The only things that brought happiness to me is the gift of life that God gives me every day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am a farmer doing crop farming and rearing chickens for sale. I do irrigation on my 1.5-acre piece of land. It is now one year without receiving rain in our village. The river dried up since April 2022. Due to the shortage of work I had to stop my work. I only depend on casual work now. I used to earn approximately $100 every month from my farm products but now I can a whole month without getting any income. I lack money to buy food now. This is the challenge I am currently facing.
