How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am no longer rained on during rainy season because we renovated our house. I feel proud too because I managed to paint our house, it now looks very neat and smart.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I would say I have no new goal still paying school fees for my son who is in Secondary school
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Since I started receiving money from Give Directly I have been saving towards renovating my house. This is because it is not in good condition, the roof is seriously leaking during the rainy seasons. Thus we pooled our transfers together with my husband also managed to buy a few tins of paint that were used to paint our house to look decent. We bought new iron sheets, called the builder who renovates it. I thank Give Directly we are no longer rained on, and also my house now looks very neat compared to before when I had not painted it.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I do not expect any change because I am still paying school fees for my children since it's my priority.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because I am able to pay school fee for my children with less struggle and my children are no longer being sent home for school fees arrears and thus they have ample time to study compared to how it was before receiving GD cash transfer.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to spend money to buy one sack of maize for my future consumption since there is still famine in the community. I am also planning to continue saving money to pay school fee for my children so that they may not be sent home for school fee like they were being sent home before receiving the cash transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am able to pay school fees for my children at the right time therefore they are able to stay in school and attend to all the school’s activities and routine without being sent home for fees, not like it was before when they always being sent home for school fees. I am hoping to see improved grades since they now attend all classes without being sent home for school fee as before the cash transfer. Thanks to GiveDirectly for the change they have brought to my family as a whole.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months l expect to have bought enough maize for my consumption which will help sustain my family and also restore my dignity by keeping away from borrowing. I will also have started saving money to pay school fee for my children to enable them study like other children.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The other difference in my life is that I have been able to pay school fees for my son. Since I started receiving these transfers I have been paying my son's school fees bity by bit and I am glad that by now I have paid most of his fees balance. Since last year second-term, he has not been sent home for school fees as it was the case before the transfers. His performance has really gone up whcih makes me very happy as a parent. This is because he has more time to study in school and I know when he is done with studies, he will get a well-paying job to support my life.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I wish to pay school fees for my son. I would not rejoice when I sit down with my son in my house while others are studying because of school fees. I know when he is done with the studies and he will help improve my status when he gets a well-paying job.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have a new iron-roofed house. I used to live in a grass-thatched house which was too small and the roof was leaking too. Due to the small income from my foodstuff business which was not consistent, I was not able to buy building materials to build a new house of my desire. With GD transfers, I was able to buy building materials such as iron sheets, nails and timber which I have used to build a house of my preference. I thank GD for changing my life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I would want to buy cement and sand which I will use in plastering my house. The house I built is mud-walled and during the rainy season, the muds on the wall fall off and I end up smearing every month which is tiresome and time-consuming. I would handle the house issue once and for all by plastering it.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Casual work has been my source of income since my husband passed away last year. This has not been easy to provide for my family on the same. In most cases, I had to go without food because there were other urgent needs to provide for than food. This did not go well with my family and they had to go to my neighbours house to look for food. Apart from saving for my new house, I used part of the transfers to ensure I budget well so that we may never go without food again. These days we can be able to take different kinds of food because of GD transfers. I really thank God for GD.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Now that my biggest worry has been solved by GD, which was building a new house. I want to do my best to ensure I pay school fees in time for my kids when schools re-open next year. I will save the little I get to help me cater for my son's requirements when he will be joining secondary school next years.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Ever since my late husband passed away one year ago, I have had to put up in a house with a leaking roof and too small to serve my family well. He was our breadwinner and after his departure, life has not been easy for me. Before his death, we had talked about building a bigger and better house which we had started saving for . When he died, I had to use our savings to cater for funeral expenses drawing me back with building plans. I have had to go for casual work which is not even enough for food. I have been living with a hope that one day I will have a good house. When I started receiving this transfer, I thought of how we had agreed with my husband on building a new house and immediately started saving for the same. Right now, I have built an iron-roofed house, bigger and better than the grass-thatched house I had before. I am happy because GD has brought a lot of happiness and peace in my life. Even if we don't have much to brag about, but the shame of being rained on through a leaking roof is no more.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I would just want to ensure my children are not sent home again for school fees. I will do my best to pay school fees in time so that my children can study in peace. I will take part of my monthly income from GD to pay for their school fees bit by bit until I clear al, their balance. I pray when they are done with studies, they will be able to get well paying jobs to suppoirt me.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is sickness. I was sick for a month and could not take care of my family, grinning in pain and used most of our resources in seeking treatment. Till now, I have not fully recovered and not able to do my daily activities effectively.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am done with supper. I get opportunity to be with my loving husband by my side. I like his fun especially at late evening and being with him is what I can't afford missing.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I plan to spend my transfer on building a new house. We are currently staying in a grass thatched house that is leaking whenever it rains. Rains have began and we expect misery in the house. With the transfer coming, we have found a solution to this problem of housing to the family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of is establishing my own home. In my home I have the freedom to make decisions on development. Cultural ties were a great hinder in implementing my development agenda. I am now proud to be where I have the freedom.
