How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I was a squatter i my sister's piece of land and this made me feel so worthless in the community but as at now I own my piece of land and already built my home on it. This is a big step which I could not make on my own without the help of Give Directly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GD has really helped us in developing ourselves and reviving our abandoned dreams. Through Give Directly transfers many lives have been transformed and there is alot of piece in my community because everyone is busy with their own projects.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to settle debt of quarter acre piece of land that I ha bought with my first transfer. I had been living as a squatter in my sister's piece of land because i did not have my own. My parents died when I was young and was left with our maternal uncle who could not let me inherit his land since he never had enough land for himself. I used the remaining part of my transfer to buy building materials such as iron sheets, poles, windows and built my own house in that piece of land. I had lost hope in having neither my own piece of land nor my own house but GD gave me a new hope and i know believe I will do more to develop myself in my home.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have been living in a neighbours compound because I did not have my own land to build a house, this also caused the separation between my wife and I, but with this money, I will soon have my own piece of land where I can construct my own house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy that I got out of bed to wake up one of my children to actually confirm that I was reading the message correctly because it was like a dream to me.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used the whole amount I received to make part of the required payment on a piece of land that I wish to purchase.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving money means a lot to me because I will be able to build my home, after building my home, I will buy cows that I shall rear to reproduce where I will be able to sell milk to my neighbors and have some for family use. The cows will reproduce and their calves can be sold to meet school fees or any other emergencies.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the evening when I come back home with food for my family. To me my family is a pillar of joy and having them together as we share the meals makes me feel happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is taking care of my children after their mother abandoned our marriage citing that I had failed to pay her bride price, sometimes when I fail to get jobs in the farms due to dry weather, I end up sleeping without food with children.
