How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better now than I would have been had I not received the transfer because it was through this money I was able to complete my house that I have rented out one side and therefore I earn in region of ugx 40000 monthly. These monthly collections have helped me cater for the wellbeing of my family in terms of buying domestic goods like food, clothes, medical among others. In addition to that, I live a happy life because I have money most of the time that I collect from rent. Prior to getting money, we depended on our small shop which could not meet all the demands in my household and it almost collapsed. I'm so grateful and would like to extend my gratitude to the philanthropic world for the amazing support rendered to me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done an awesome job to uplift people in my community who lived in low standards of living. Most of my community members slept in grass thatched huts which could leak but after receiving money, most of them have spent it on building iron roofed houses, acquire livestock, land, household items and take their children to school. However I realised GD skipped some households who really deserved this help.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I and my spouse decided to complete our commercial building using the second transfer. We had constructed this house up to the ring been level and we lacked money to complete it.
