Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Since I lost my husband life became hard because he was the bread winner, I had challenges when it came to providing basic needs to my family. The cash transfer from GiveDirectly has brought happiness to my family. I and the children are looking health, my mind is now relaxed because I can provide basic needs especially food for my family members.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was my joy to receive the money from GiveDirectly, all I had to tell the almighty God is thank you for touching the hearts of those who donated their money for the poor like me.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used UGX 500,000 of my first transfer as capital for starting a business of produce. I bought 3 goat, 7 bags of cement, 8 iron sheets, 2 trips of bricks, a bed, bed sheets and curtains. I have saved UGX 60,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to purchase household items like bedding in order to improve on living conditions. I share one mattress with four of my children which is very inconviniencing. I will build more two grass thatched houses that will improve on the beauty of the home and provide specious accommodation to visitors and my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is during morning hours when I have come back from the garden. I interract with my mother in law and daughter in law who give me company.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is lack of oxen in order to support me plough land for crop cultivation. Currently, I dig with a hand hoe which is not very effective. I take many days working on a small portion of land which at the end of it gives little yields hence poverty at household level.
