How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that I have a dairy cow. Previously, I couldn't afford to own one and I was only left to admire my neighbor's. Although this dairy cow has not yet started to give out milk, I appreciate that I have livestock since in my culture it signifies wealth. I have also cemented my main house and kitchen's floor which makes it easier for me to clean. I am glad that I stay in a clean environment. Thank you GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , GiveDirectly did well through giving our society money which is non refundable . Our living standards has changed because having a challenge of habitable housing was key in our area but after getting money most of the beneficiaries invest on improving their households which has beatified the village . I do not see where GiveDirectly did wrong at its work .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the larger part of my second transfer on cementing the floor of my main house and the kitchen's as well. Its feels good to clean it because cementing this house has made my work easier . I also bought a dairy cow with the remaining amount which I do rear.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest problem in my life had been not having a proper kitchen. I was using the living room as a kitchen and this was destroying my seats and the roof by the soot. It was going to make my house inhabitable especially when I have visitors. Having this kitchen will keep my house clean. I am happy to have a separate kitchen where I can cook well and then use my house appropriately, keeping it clean and in good condition. I don't use it for cooking and so my living room is now reserved for its proper use. Thanks to GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The message notifying me arrived when I was washing my household bedding in a river. This meant that I could finally carry out my home improvement. I was happy and immediately sent my husband to withdraw the cash. I could not go because I had soaked my blankets and had to be clean and hang them to dry for the night.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer on improving my living house and my kitchen. I replaced the mud wall with a timber wall. Finding the soil to use to use in smearing the mud walls had become hectic. I had to use money to transport it from my mother inlaw's house to where I live. Transport used to cost me about KES 150 everytime I needed it. I would then have to carry the soil on my back for a lonng distance into my compound adding to the pain of living in ouses like this. Now I can take some break off as smearing is n nolonger a bother. I used the money I recived to buy timber and iron roofing sheets. I then paid labor for the house construction and for the improvement. I then bought bedding for myself. I laso contributed a part of it towards my church construction.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always prayed that I get finances to buy a cow. This is because I normally buy milk from a nearby village. Receiving this money means that my prayers have been answered. I will therefore use approximately 30,000 shillings to buy a dairy cow.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. I am happy because this is the time I relax after I have finished my house chores and have bought milk for my daughter.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest worry is that I dont have a dairy cow. Everyday, I have to buy milk form a nearby village that is 2 kilometers away so that my daughter can take milk after her meals in the evening. On several occassions, I don't get the milk and my daughter has to sleep without taking milk. This really makes me sad.
