What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on purchasing some livestock, that is, 2 oxen and a cow. The oxen were intended to help me plough my farm and others' at a cost while the cow was intended to provide milk for the family's consumption and for sale. Through all these, I have managed to save on the amount previously spent on ploughing my farm and even the amount spent on purchasing milk on daily basis. To add on that, I have managed to generate some daily income from the sale of milk that has helped me in acquiring daily needs of the family.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has greatly changed with the transfers received. At the moment I am able to plough my farm at no cost and at my convenient time. Additionally, I have managed to raise daily income from the sale of milk.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly has done perfectly well as compared to all the NGOs I have seen around the village. The fact that Give Directly offers unconditional cash transfers has greatly brought a difference with other organisations. People have varied needs and therefore giving them unconditional cash is the best decision ever. On the other hand, I feel that Give Directly should in future think of a way of pooling all the transfers and coming up with a project, say an industry, to create permanent job opportunities for the poor.
