What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Receiving this cash transfer means safety and comfort to my family. In the year 2020 ,my only house felt down due to the effects of rains and termites invasion on the timbers.Establishing a new house has been in vain especially at this moments where it's difficult to get a source of income.GiveDirectly's transfers is truly an answered prayer to me, I thought all my life I would live in borrowed houses shifting from one to another.I am so much indebted to Givedirectly, I will use KES 80000 to build a 2 roomed cemented house, buy furnitures and utensils. The construction of this house will elevate my reputation in the village hence a happy life for me and my three children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Having a stable mind and peace in my life is what makes me happy.I have learned to be contented and to appreciate the little things that I receive in my life.Although the incomes I earn from my daily activities are minimal, I am not bothered a lot because I am certain that I have done my best and there is no one to complain to me.Being single with 3 children has played a vital role in the stability of my mind because we can comfortably manage whatever I get.My happiness in the past 3 months have been higher because we have had good health despite the inadequacy in our daily food intake.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Hunger is the biggest challenge my family is currently facing. The lack of jobs in the neighborhood has resulted to me and my family of 2 going without food on many occasions.I am a mother of one who engages in casual jobs such as cleaning , transporting water on my back and grading tomatoes in the neighboring location. These jobs are rare to find, one might engage in them twice or thrice a week .At the end of a week I always have at most KES 800, to survive on this my family has to live on one meal a day (super only) and have the last night leftovers in the morning if any .The insufficiency of quality food has impacted negatively on my health in terms of immunity and energy.I am no longer energetic enough to walk for long distances in search for jobs and transportation of water.
