How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If it were not for Give directly, I could have not managed to afford building a house and buying the animals in my life because of lack of money.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give directly has done well by supporting me with money which has enabled me put up a house and buy animals to keep. Give directly also do well by contacting me directly without sending someone this makes it easy for me to tell them my problems and solved immediately. I also love how they fulfill their promise of giving money without making false promises.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have bought a goat and a cow, buying a cow was a decision that I made since I will earn from them in the future when they multiply. I have also built a house for myself since the house I have before was not in a good condition and it could not last for many years. I therefore decided to build a house that can take me the rest of my life without falling down.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt happy the moment I received the money from GiveDirectly because I knew my living standards shall improve in so many ways.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before the coming of GiveDirectly in my life, I used to shelter in a small house that was in critical condition. During the rainy seasons, I used to seek shelter from my relatives which were so stressful. I could not even afford to but the required materials to renovate it because of my financial status considering my spouse was jobless. Therefore after receiving my first transfer constructing a decent house was my first priority. I am now thankful because I am now living happily in my decent iron-roofed house and I feel it has brought the biggest difference in my daily life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying some building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, timber, ropes, and nails. This was purposely for the construction of a new house because the previous one was in poor condition and very small it could fit all my family members. I also bought some livestock such as goats as my living assets that I can lean on whenever I have any financial difficulties. The remaining amount of money, I am using it in buying some foodstuffs for my family and some other household items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Building a house will be a dream come true to me. For my years, I've been living in a very tiny house and at the moment it is on the verge of collapsing. Having a secured house will mean a lot to my family in terms of comfort, privacy, and general well being. I, therefore purpose to use my first transfers to purchase the requisite materials and construction expenses. For the second portion, I will invest in goat rearing as a long-term plan. Accordingly, I will buy 10 goats for a start and I believe in 2 years to come, they will have multiplied and that means a sustained future for my children's education.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is the happiest part of my day. Having completed my day's chores and farm work, I always look forward to evening where I get time to rest. It is also a perfect opportunity to bond with my children over dinner.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack adequate resources has been the biggest hardship in life. This was necessitated by inadequate income and my husband being the sole provider, it has not been easy to sustain the family's needs. He is a casual laborer in Mombasa and often times his income can barely cater for the household food. As a result, I've had to compromise on other essentials like decent house, clothing for the kids and other educational needs.
