How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I went to the network area to call my family in karloken that's how I saw the mobile money massage in my phone. I began to dance and sing in my dialet because since I was born, nobody has ever given me that amount of money free in my entire life. It was one of the happiest days of my life; I couldn't stop dancing.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life was in a very poor state before GiveDirectly program came in my village. I used to go on the farm before getting food to eat. The house I live in currently is even in a bad condition. But by the help of giveDirectly, my life is getting better day by day. I'm building my new house and I have also decided to start a business with the balance money.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two bundles of zinc and three packs of nails for the house I've planned to build. I also bought food for my house and paid my three of my children's school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"I've always longed to live in a zinc house! So, GiveDirectly's Cash Transfer us a perfect start for me towards this project. The thatch house is not long lasting and reliable. To patch it is not easy and when it rains heavily the roof leaks! Currently, my two girls are not in school. My other plan would be to have them enrolled in school for the betterment of their future. Finally, if there's still more money left, I'll invest it in livestock to raise so that I can sell them in time to come to help me with funds for the family."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"Nothing specific has happened in the past six months other than our regular rountine as a family. Yet, I'm still grateful that most days we have something to eat and if we don't, our neighbors are kind to borrow us to eat for those days. I'm also very happy to own a phone for the first time ever! It's all thanks to GiveDirectly and their good news they've brought today about the Cash Transfer which I'm really looking forward to.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Mainly, money is a serious issue for us as a family! The lack of finance makes it difficult for us to provide for our children as we should like catering to their basic needs such as food and clothes. Secondarily, it's the children who are not in school. It's worrisome for us because they are getting older. This is also related to the same finacial difficulties because we will in no way have money and not send our children to school knowing that we our selves aren't educated.
