Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was 6 pm when I was heading to my house after I had attended a meeting in the neighbourhood. Then suddenly, I heard my phone ringing. This was the best news that came my way that evening and I was overwhelmed with happiness and joy because I knew that I would be able to execute the plans that I had therefore I embarked on planning how we would cash out our transfers.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have accomplished my dream of purchasing a dairy cow within a short period. This is a big relief because I would no longer worry about where I would get money of purchasing milk daily. Additionally, I was able to pay school fees for my children thus they would comfortably concentrate on their studies. I am forever grateful for the support that uplifted my life tremendously

Upon receiving my initial transfer, my husband and I thought of buying a dairy cow worth KES 30,000 and a calf worth KES 10,000 to cut down on the cost of buying milk daily. I was not in a position of acquiring one before due to financial constraints. I am married and blessed with five children and we depend on farming and my husband's Boda Boda business in earning a livelihood. Secondly, I used the remaining amount in buying foodstuffs and paying school fees. I am so grateful for the great milestone that I was able to accomplish in a short period.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving money from GiveDirecty means a better living standard for the family. I have two children in college and secondary school whose school fees amount to KES 81,000 per year. They have been in and out of school due to lack of school fees , I depend on my husband who works as a motorcycle rider within a nearby center. He earns little income which cannot nurture all of us especially with the high cost of living in the country. I will consequently use all my first transfers and some from second transfer to clear there school fees balance. From the remaining amount I will plan to obtain food to sustain the family for the next 2 months. This will allow us focus on the next academic year school fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In January I started conforming to poultry farming which I had always desired to practice. I begun with 6chickens and the moment I have 22. This gives me hope of practicing poultry farming in a large-scale.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We practice farming here, but maize rust which had affected maize ranch and we entirely depend on maize as a reliable food in our community. Cost of maize has hiked up making it arduous for us as a family to have sufficient and nutritive diet.
