How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the money from give directly I could not have managed to buy cow and sure I could have died without owning a cow in my life. I could also not have managed to hire tractor to till my farm, I could have used the ox plough which is very slow and I could have still planted late and lead to law yield.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very well by dealing with people directly and not involving the authorities or even church leaders because this could have involved corruption and I am very sure we could not have received the money as it was said. Give directly is also a trustworthy organisation because they deliver as they had promised us.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the cash transfer to buy two dairy cows and one sheep,I thought of buying cow because it is a long term investment that I could relay on for so long and it is also a source of income to my family. When it will started producing milk, I will be able to sell some to the community and some for my family consumption and making profit. It will getting me some income and my family wilk never gone to bed hungry. I will also be able to at least meet our daily needs, as compared to to now that I am depending on farming alone to sustain my family which sometimes I could not even get enough produce to sustain them. I also spent the transfer on farming where i hired tractor that plough my farm, being that before I was using an ox plough and this was taking too long for them to complete ploughing and this was leading to late planting. The remaining balance I spent to buy food stuffs for my family consumption.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I stay in a better house and cook in a good kitchen. This was not the case for my previous house used to leak during rainy reasons and cooking was difficult. My granddaughter is no longer sent home for school fees like she used to before. I expect that her performance in school will also improve considering that there are minimal disruptions with her classes.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer I was very happy and relieved. I knew that finally, I was going to build a better house and even put up a small kitchen.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer I decided to build a better house and an outside kitchen. I did this because initially, I was leaving in an old leaking house that my late husband had built for me. I lacked the finances to build a better house so circumstances forced me to put up in that house. I used to cook in the compound space because I did not have a kitchen then. I am guaranteed that I can cook even when it rains for I have a shelter. Besides that, I also bought new cushions for my seats and a high-density mattress to replace the old worn out mattress. I now enjoy a peaceful and comfortable sleep. The remaining amount I paid school fee for my granddaughter. She can now attend school with minimal disruptions.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that my lifestyle is going to significantly improve. I shall spend my transfer to buy cows from which I shall be able to get milk for sale. I shall, therefore, be able to earn an extra income from the sales of milk.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I have managed to work and earn some money for my daily needs. I feel happy whenever I am able to fend for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I currently face is financial constraint. I fully depend on casual labour which in the recent past has been rare to find hence difficulty in earning a living.
