How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Prior to getting this money, I used to sleep in a ramshackle house which leaked and destroyed my property and disorganised my sleep each time rain fell. Secondly, I used to sleep on a papyrus mat for a mattress that caused bedsores leading to sleepless nights. When I received this money, my life has tremendously changed in that I sleep in a Iron roofed house which doesn't leak and my property is safe from rain. Furthermore, I'm no longer bothered of bedsores since I sleep comfortably on a mattress which I bought using GiveDirectly's cash.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion I thought I could have died without sleeping in a iron roofed house. GiveDirectly did so well transfer cash to me that enabled me build one. On the other side there's nothing wrong done by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my money to complete the my house which I had constructed using the first transfer. The remaining sum I spent it on household items and feeding.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is having an iron sheet roofed house and better clothings. This brings happiness, because I was afraid to die without sleeping under an iron sheet roofed house which is a prestigious status in the village.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy because I have never held such an amount.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
My first transfer was used to buy building materials such as bricks, sand, cement, iron sheets to construct a house. Then I bought household items like mattress and clothes for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be in position to build an iron roofed house. The grass thatched house that I have disturbs a lot. I have to change grass almost every three months which is very costly. I am not able to save any money to do other things that would really be beneficial to my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when my children are healthy and are playing. This gives me the oppotunity to do better things.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty. I have very limited space for farming that only produces little food for my household. In most cases, I am not able to carry on with what I harvest alone so I have to go out there and do casual labour in order to earn some money just to keep the family moving. I do not have money that can facilitate the purchase of land so I have lived in this condition all this while. It has just been my order of life.
