Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was shocked and happy at the same time when I saw an Mpesa message from Give Directly. In my entire life, I have never handled such a huge amount of money which is also nonrefundable. I finally realized that all my dreams are now achievable.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I now have some livestock such as a dairy cow and goats in my homestead. Owning them is usually everyone's pride. Current my life has improved ever since I purchase these animals. First I am now getting for free which is majorly for my family's consumption and selling the extra litres to the nearby markets. With the goats, when they multiply, I will be selling the offsprings if need be and cater some of my family needs at that particular time.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my transfer on buying one dairy cow at KES 18000 and some goats at KES 10000. I have always been aspiring to own this livestock for a long time but due to the low income, I could not afford to purchase them. To add on that I bought sufficient foodstuffs for my family with the remaining amount of money.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My ambition has been to own 1 indigenous dairy cow but due to financial problems, this dream has never materialized. Receiving this transfer means fulfilling my long term desire.I am planning to spend $ 400 to purchase it. Through it, I will be able to sell at least 3 litres in a day and make $ 15.This will serve as a source of income for me. I planning to spend the extra amount on food. I would like to be taking balanced diet meals which can boast my body health which has been affected by malnutrition.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the evening. It is at this time when enjoy taking chatting with my grandchildren before going to sleep.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Am an old woman who can no longer depend on myself. I rely on my children who are casual laborers and have their own families. Lack of a reliable source of income has been my biggest challenge to face.
