How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Compared to before when I used to sleep in a grass thatched house that used to leak and renovating it was expensive, my life has currently changed in that I was able to build a permanet iron roofed house where I now sleep comfortably without worrying about any leakage. Secondly, my life is different now because I am happy seeing that I was able to treat my child and he can freely move now.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by lifting me out of the biting poverty like having no proper place to sleep. This is through the money that I received. However, GiveDirectly has done nothing bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy iron sheets, timber, nails, window and one more trip of bricks that I used to complete building my house. I then spent part of my transfer to treat my child who had got an accident and broken his thigh bone.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I'm so happy nowadays because I was able to handle money I have never held my entire life before. Even if I did farming, I would not get this kind of money at once the way GD blessed me with this one. Seeing my house alone brings happiness to me life and when I get my last transfer I will be in position to complete it.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
This money was sent to me at night and I didn't realize that I received the money. When I woke up in the morning, I saw a mobile money message on my phone screen and I decided to cross check my account and indeed there was money. The moment I saw one million seven hundred thousand in my phone, I became so happy because this money was going to help me build a house and relieve me from stress of looking for grass for house maintenance.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I decided to construct a house with it because the one I'm currently occupying is grass thatched. The main reason I decided to built a house using this transfer is, Grass has become very scarce and so expensive to buy and therefore the cost of maintaining a grass thatched house is too high. I spent my whole transfer ugx 1700000 on house construction.
