How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Owning a pair of oxen is the biggest difference I wouldn't have achieved without GiveDirectly's assistance. Previously, I had none and it was difficult to invest in farming since I was using hoes and this forced me to work on a smaller acreage of land giving me eight bags of corns for the whole year. Having my pair of oxen is advantageous to me because this year I have harvested sixty bags of corn that I intend to sell and add another pair of oxen with part of the profits. Henceforth ,I shall be assured of cultivating a bigger acreage of land for better yields and also source for extra income through hiring them to my neighbors.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by enlightening the village members on the safety of their transfers which included making sure the beneficiaries Mpesa pin are kept secret. This reduced fraud cases since most of the beneficiaries were careful and benefited from the money as they spent them on what they lacked most.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I purchased a pair of oxen to aid me in my farming and a ox plough. Therefore, I no longer use hoes which were not effective in cultivating a larger acreage upon leasing land. The remaining amount I leased a parcel of land from my neighbor that I planted maize on.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a lot to me. I am a widow and my husband left me without a house. Currently I stay in a small rental house. I will use this money to build a semi permanent house for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am having dinner with my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life was the death of my husband. I was left with all the responsibilities of taking care of the family yet I never had a job to do to get me an income as we all depended on him.
