What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
The transfers from GiveDirectly have rekindled my hope for a better life. Insufficient family income has been the root cause of many of my challenges and setbacks. With these transfers, I can finally see my dream of livestock farming coming to fruition. I plan to set aside $90 to purchase four sheep, which will kickstart my sheep-rearing venture. Additionally, I'm considering sustainable ways to generate income. I intend to save my second and third transfers to buy a second-hand motorbike. With a motorbike, I can offer transport services, providing a reliable source of income to support my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My life has been filled with countless challenges, and the lack of stable income and better job opportunities has only made things harder. However, I am grateful that I have not faced any health issues in the past six months. This has motivated me to work even harder in my pursuit of a job that can support my family
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
After finishing my secondary education in the year 2010, I dreamed of living a better and more fulfilling life. However, that vision fades each and every day. Without a stable job, achieving my dreams feels increasingly out of reach. I rely on fishing, which earns me only about $3 a day which is not enough to cover food and other essential needs for my family. A habitable home remains just a dream, as I lack the financial resources to build a decent place to live. Struggling to provide basic necessities like food and clothing is deeply frustrating and embarrassing for me.
