Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I am currently sleeping in a grass thatched hut that requires annual renovation. Given the scarcity of grass in my community its now a great challenge to renovate my house because I am forced to move for long distance looking for grass. Having got this money, I am in the process of making bricks and I plan to start the construction of an iron roofed house around February with hope of completing it with the second transfer and sales from the harvest.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My phone rang at around 5:30 AM, then I went a head to check, it was a mobile money notifying me that I had got money from GiveDirectly. I was over whelmed by joy because I had got money to construct a permanent house for my self.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have only spent UGX 300,000 from my first transfer for making bricks. I have not yet spent UGX 1,400,000 but I intend to spend it for acquiring construction materials when my bricks are ready.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to acquire a few heads of cows that can multiply and support the family in future as an income generating activity. Some can be sold in order to pay school fees for the children as well as solve other family problems like buying land while the rest is kept in order to take care of future uncerainities.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening while socializing with friends in the centre. This comes after work when I am free, I go to the centre in order to relux and get information on what transpared during the course of the day in other parts of the village.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship Ivface in my life is lack of enough land in order to support my family. I own only an acre of land which can not produce enough food for the household. Besides, I have built on the same piece of land leaving a very small portion for cultivation.
