Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was overjoyed the moment I reliazed that I had received my transfer from GiveDirectly. This was my first time in life to receive such a huge amount of money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I have money to use in buying a farm. With this, I will be able to practice farming for the first time in my life. This has always been my dream and I am glad its about to materialize all thanks to GiveDirectly. Practicing farming will enabke my family to always have constant supply of fresh farm supplies.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my recent transfer, I spent 5000 KES to buy food to celebrate christmass with my family. It has always been a norm for us to celebrate this day and I am hlad that it was not a different case this year despite the economic situation in the country. I am planning to spend the remaining amount to buy a piece of land for farming. We are still looking for it and we're hoping that we will get it soon.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
A decent shelter for my family is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, the house that I am living in is small, leaks and is about to fall. My plan is use USD 300 to construct a spacious two-roomed house. This will earn me the joy the I have missed for long. I will invest $ 500 of the remaining amount on purchasing 1.5 arches of land something that will finally fulfill my dream of being a land possessor. I will use this land for farming a thing that give me enough food for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening in the happiest part of my day. Being a farmer I spent my entire day working on my farm up to the evening when I return home to relax and with some farm produce to cook for my family. The accomplishment of my day's work gives me joy and hope because it Through this that I get to feed my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity is my biggest hardships, I am a peasant farmer growing maize and cassava for my family consumption on a one acre farm. The produce from my farm is very minimal because of the poor fertility of my land. This has made my family to struggle for food for eight months every year as the harvest from my farm can only feed us for 4 months. I am happy that finally this problem has get a permanent solution once I received my transfer.
