How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have a big better house and decent beddings. This is because my previous house was in poor condition and it could accommodate us all. Therefore this was really affecting my children in their academic performance since they could not study or do their assignments since there was no space. I am now a happy parent because this is sorted courtesy of GiveDirectly. In addition, to that, the financial support empowered me to purchase good beddings which I I'm now using. Previously I was using some old mats I was always complaining of back pains and body joints. I feel lucky and blessed after acquiring all these because I would not have achieved it if were not for the support.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in my village because every needy household was visited and received the transfers without discrimination of tribe or even religion. Also, the fact that we were taught how best we can spend money according to our desires was the best part that I loved the most because most of us were even blank because of the excitement. Also, I do not see any sector GD failed us.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying some building materials such as pieces of iron, sheets, building poles, nails. I purchased all these to construct a new house since the previous one was not in a good state. I also took a portion of the transfers and cleared a hospital bill since I have been unwell for quite a long time. To ass to that, I bought a new bed and mattress to replace the traditional bed that I have been using for all that long. With the remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs for the family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 8 in the morning when I was heading to the market when I heard a loud vibration on my mobile phone. That was an alert of a new message. I decided to check who it could be. Only to realize it was the Mpesa message from GiveDirectly that I have been waiting for I felt so happy and I even went back home and shared the good news with my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a proud owner of goats. I have been longing to keep them for so many years but they were very expensive. Opted in buying them because they reproduce twice a year and offsprings mature very fast compared to other domestic animals. My hope is that when they multiply in number, I will start a business of selling the matured offsprings to the nearby markets and generate an income. I am positive that the business will grow fast since it does well in my region. I also believe that will no longer strain in meeting my family's needs as I used to do for all those years,
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying some building materials such as building poles, iron sheets, threads, and timber. This was purposely for the construction of a new house since the previous one was in critical condition and almost collapsing. I also bought some livestock such as goats to serve as ling assets that I can depend on just in as of any financial difficulties. With the remaing of money, I bought enough foodstuffs and some decent clothes.
