How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Initially I did not have a reliable source of income, instead, I relied on casual labour. I am glad through the transfers I have a stable business which gives me daily income. I also invested in oxen which I am currently using to plough people's farms. This is another source of income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly does well because it has empowered most people financially especially the needy who had no hope in life. Most people have improved their living standards. On the other hand, they are doing a great job and need not to improve on area.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the second transfer on both ox plough and an ox. It has been a real struggle to raise money for ploughing my farm but am glad I now have my own. Since we are in farming season, it's a good source of income because most people are in need of ploughing labour which I am doing for them at afee. I also boosted my business with part of the recent transfer and I am glad I earn good income from it.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 8 in the morning when I was heading to my daily hustle then I had my phone ringing. This was notifying me of a new message. Therefore I decided to check its content, I was so excited after realizing that it was an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. I even decided to go back home and shared the good news.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
For so many years I have been sheltering in my relative's house simply because my house had collapsed and I did not have the money to buy the materials needed. I have been longing to construct my own house for years all was in vain. The little I could earn was only enough for my children food and paying their school fees. However, I never lost hope and I knew someday I would own my house since I trusted that God was in control and yes this has finally happened. I am currently sleeping in a very nice spacious house. This has brought peace, love and unity that we lacked as a family for all those years. I will forever be grateful to this organisation for transforming my life positively.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a big portion of my first t4nqawsder on buying some building iron sheets, building poles, timber, threads and nails. I purchased all these with an intention of constructing a new house since the current one was in critical condition and almost collapsing. Also, I bought an ox which will help me in my agricultural activities since I am a farmer. Also with the reaming amount of money, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for my family that would at least take us to the next weeks.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means food security to my family. I'm planning to use 100 dollars to buy food for my family. Furthermore I'll use 500 dollars to buy two pairs of ox-plough for improved food production in my farm. This will assure my family a consistent supply of food. Food is one of the basic necessities of life and it has been my desire to see my family consume different varieties of food for a healthy living. In addition to this, I'll use 200 dollars to prepare three more acres of family land so that I can have a total of eight acres to till.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. Waking up in the morning healthy plus my family too makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship in my life is food insecurity. I have been unable to sustain my family of eleven with enough food. The most painful thing has been seeing my children and wife go hungry for a whole day.
