Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy when I received my first transfers. I had never gotten such an amount before. I thank Give Directly for the financial support.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I am no longer being rained on while cooking like before when I use to cook on a kitchen with a leaking roof. Currently, we have a good kitchen with ironed roofed which is so warm and safe to cook even during rainy season.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used some amount on farming by buying a barbed wire to help me fence my piece of land where I graze my livestock. The other portion, I spent on buying building materials for constructing a kitchen.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have an old store where I normally store farm harvests like maize.It is grass thatched and since it was built over 30 years ago,the roof leaks hence every time i put my harvest in there it is destroyed.My kitchen too cannot be used during rainy season.I intend to rebuild the two as well as build a good poultry house and buy chicken so that through that I can earn some income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon.I spend most of my day working in my small garden and by afternoon am awfully tired.At this time,I take time to rest and spend some time chatting with my children and grandchildren and this makes me happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My spouse and I struggled to raise our seven children despite the challenges we often faced like lack of money to pay their fees.With this struggle ,only four of them completed secondary school.We used up all our resources especially livestock in educating them and while this was already hard enough,I fell sick .This meant that whatever little resource that was left had to be sold so I could get treatment.Eventually everything was depleted leaving us in total poverty.
