How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I can say that my life is different because we managed to buy new sofa sets, which I am sure we would have never bought to date were it not for the cash transfers from Give Directly. The new set of mattresses and bed that we purchased are also part of the differences we can proudly talk about today. Then finally, the new house that we built using the transfers was a great achievement for us because if it were not for the transfers from Give Directly, then we would have never built the house to date.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organization did a good thing by giving the poor unconditional transfers which they use to change their lives as they wish. People have different needs and so by letting the cash to be unconditional, everyone gets the freedom to use the money to meet their needs as they would wish to.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used the transfers to build a new house because we used to live in a small house that was in such a dilapidated state. I also used a portion of the money to buy food for the family. Apart from that, we also bought a few household items such as a new bed and a new mattress which we never had before. The piece of land where the house stands today was also purchased using the cash that we got from Give Directly, which I think was a positive thing worth appreciating.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
For me, the biggest difference is that I am able to live with my family in a very spacious house that can now accommodate us in such a comfortable manner. I am very thankful to the organization for coming through for me at such a time.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I got the text message from GD because it came at a time when I was financially broke and there was nowhere I could get such an amount during such a time.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the cash in buying new building materials that I have already used in constructing a new house for myself. I used to live in my in-laws house which was quite inconveniencing for me but right now I am so happy because I have a place of my own.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means big time difference as my husband will be able to pay my bride price and start a business that will sustain my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the evening while we settle together in the evening as a family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is that I do not have a large farm, and we have to work in peoples farms to meet our family needs. Sometimes we work in the farms and instead of getting payments we get promised for pay for the following day and in such occasions we end up going without food or borrow food from neighbors.
