What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
During the cyclone Hidaya pandemic season I was not lucky to be sincere. My house roof was blown away by the winds and we had to improvise in the long run. So this cash transfer will come in handy. I will use $500 to construct a good house that's more stable and secure. Given any other pandemic I am able to stay in peace in my house. My daughter Salome is joining college in September. She is going to pursue a nursing Course in KMTC and I am happy GiveDirectly came in time in the village. I am going to use &500 in the payment of her school fees and making sure she is well settled. The remaining amount will be used for food.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I had a great harvest last year. What really makes me happy is the fact that I still have maize that I stored since last year, meaning I have enough food for my family and I. Drought has always been a big deal in our area but we are greatful this year It's working for the best of us. Looking forward for next year where we hope for a greater harvest.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our main challenge in life is food Insecurity. My husband is in the construction industry and as you are aware getting jobs is hard during these rainy seasons no one wants to build a house. So it's a challenge to me and my family. The ability to just put food on the table. The other challenge is just the economy. Inflation is a real deal and the hike of good prices is alarming. So being able to afford commodities in the market given the high cost of living too is also difficult.
