Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to bu a cow. I intend to buy a heifer so that I get money on a daily basis. Accumulating the cash every month will enable me to pay my children school fees.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the expansion of my sheep and goat trading business. As a result, my business grew and is still going on well. Without GiveDirectly, I would not have come this far with this business. I would still be struggling to provide food for my family. I am happy that I am able to act like a responsible father to my children by meeting my children's needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect that I will be making extra money from the sale of milk form the livestock. I have an intention to buy a dairy cow so that I make my school payment ordeal less messy. If I manage to establish milk production I will be saved from the troubles of having to sell some of my animals on my farm. I expect to be prospering in my business too.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My mother was diagnosed with diabetes in the early 90s and was admitted to Litein Mission hospital and later transferred to Tenwek Mission Hospital for further treatment. The condition led to her right leg being amputated. Our entire family was affected. All the cows we owned were sold to cater for her medication. I was about to get married and I had to work extra hard to buy other livestock for my dowry payment. This is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. I go out in the morning to work so as to provide for my family. Arriving home to them in the evening having brought food gives me joy and a sense of fulfillment.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my first transfer to purchase a barbed wire because I want to fence a part of my farm for livestock keeping. I will then combine the remaining amount with the second transfer to purchase a milking cow to sustain my family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I use an acre of my farm to grow maize for subsistence purposes and another portion for dairy farming. The yields I get from both maize and dairy farming has sustained my family for about twenty years. Seeing the success of my farm is an achievement I am most proud of.
