How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received money from give directly I could not have managed to pay dowry to my spouse and sure she could still be at her biological home together with my children. I could not have managed to invest in sugarcane farming as I did.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very well by giving people phones because some of us have never own a phone in their life and this was a privilege to us. It was also a good thing that the money was being sent direct to our phone and not using third party for money to reach us.l am happy and pleased with their system helping the needy. I did not see any thing that Give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy cattle which I used in paying dowry for my spouse. I have been having a big problem with her since I had not been able to pay dowry for several years being that I could not afford. So my spouse left to her biological home plus my children since she wanted me to pay her dowry. I was not pleased when my children and my wife left, So I decided to spend the money to pay dowry for my wife and now they are back and we are now staying peacefully. I have also earn respect from my in laws. The remaining balance I spent on sugarcane farming which I am very sure of getting a good harvest, where I will get money to do other developments.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have peace in my mind. I have been able to meet what I have always wanted to have.I am hopeful that my mother will have at least a better house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I can remember it was a Monday, and I was busy going on with my normal duties of cutting sugarcane,I heard my message ring and confirmed that I had received money from GivDirectly. I was so exited to have received such an amount at that time.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the money I received from GiveDirectly on buying iron sheets that I will use to build my mother a nice house and my family too. The remaining I spent on buying a bed and some furniture.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy building materials such as cement, sand and ballast so that I build a permanent house for my family. This is because currently, I have been staying in a rental house that is becoming hard to pay rent for every month due to scarcity of jobs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I come back home from work and I am able to spend time with my wife as we play with our young child.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am facing is not having a stable source of income to rely on. Aside from providing for my immediate family, I have also been fending for my mother and siblings ever since my father passed on. It has become increasingly difficult to attend to all of their needs fully more so needs like feeding, providing shelter and paying for school since my job does not generate sufficient income.
