What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer to buy two cows for milk. I also leased a farm for maize growing as my farm land is too small. I then paid school fees for three of my children in primary school and the remaining amount was spent on clothing and food.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed in a big way. I started a fish selling business with money from GiveDirectly and this has given daily income. I have manged to clothe and feed my children which would have been tough to do if I was not a recipient.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by sending transfers directly to the recipients and they were able to improve their lives.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy two cows that cost me 40000 KES. A bull for ploughing and one for miliking. I spent 5000 KES to lease land that i have cultivated,i spent 2000 KES, to buy food for my family. I used 3000 KES to buy two sheep.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that i now have my cows and now people respect me.

I bought six iron sheets at 4,000 KES, school uniforms for my six children at 2,500 KES, paid 2,000 KES school fee for three children then bought two plastic chairs at 1,000 KES.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Am planning to use part of the money to build a three roomed semi-permanenet house since am homeless and live in a one roomed rented house, I also plan to pay school fees for my children and start a small business of selling foodstuffs.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My greatest achievement is paying school fees for my children despite being jobless and depending on casual work for sustainability.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is am separated and homeless I don't have a job I only do manual work for people in the farm to help sustain my family. It's so hard since we go without food at times.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is when someone calls me to work for them since am sure I'll get money to buy food for my children for the day.
