Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy when I saw the money in my Airtel account. I obviously did not believe that the promised money is now in. I planned with my family on how to use the money and I was so excited.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
There has been noticable difference in my family, we have been able to sit down and scheme on how best to use available funds, I think this is important. And now my child is going to school without thinking of this year's fees. And above all I have completed what I always desired, I desired to own a good looking house, I was able to start on my own but finishing was a problem but with this fund, I have already started part of it.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
As a family we planned that we will use first part of the fund for fees of our child, we use to straggle to remit school fees and we thought this was the golden opportunity to ease the tension. Further we used part of the fund to finish our house which was left incomplete because I lost the major source of fund a year back hence. I have bought iron sheets to cover up the remaining part and I will also do plaster to improve aesthetics of the house. I did not also forgot that to survive we need food, so part of the fund was used on agriculture. We have buy fertilizer and ready to apply the same to improve yields

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is an honor for me as it will greatly improve my life. I would like to use the money to buy a few bags of maize so that it can take me upto the next harvesting season. Food is a big challenge for me and most of the days i only eat once in a day so that the food i have can at least take me for a few more days. I would like to buy 2 bags of fertilizer although it has become very expensive now. I think k70 000 will be enough to buy fertilizer
What is the happiest part of your day?
I haven't had any specific thing which i would say has brought joy in my life. In actual sense the past six months have been tough because my wife left me for another man 4 months ago. I am only grateful that i am alive
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge i am facing at the moment is being unable to take of myself because my wife left me a few months ago.I am not able to cook for myself every time because i am not used to do that. I am depressed because i feel like i am the worse man alive.
