Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was very early in the morning when I received an sms notification and I woke up to check its content as it was not usual for me to receive any message at such a time. Upon confirming it was my first transfers which I had just received from GiveDirectly. I felt so happy and get up from my bed and thank God for I knew that what I had just received would enable me to change my life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I have a new house which I built with part of my GiveDirectly transfers. Without the transfers, I would still be living in a grass thatched house with a leaking roof.I have a new and decent house with new house household items such as seats which I did not have before. Thanks to GiveDirectly for the aid which has changed the face of my home.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The first transfers which I received from GiveDirectly, I spent a large portion purchase building materials for constructing a two room semipermanent house. The house which we had before was round grass thached house which was so squeezed. Now I got a specious house which can accommodate us well. The remaining portion I spent on items which I didn't have in my home, this includes maize for consumption, furniture, mattresses and blankets.
