What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
As a way of recovery from depression, I have been interacting and helping my aunt in a salon for the past 3 years.I have acquired a skill of plaitting hence I would like to start my own salon .I plan to open up a shop with cosmetics and blowdry in the neighborhood, this will cost me a total of KES 30000.With this business I will be able to have a stable income throughout the year and my family will leave happily
What is the happiest part of your day?
Being healthy and of sound mind despite the many storms of life lately has given me joy. When I lost my husband 5 years ago I thought my life would never be normal again, he was a responsible husband who showered us with love, care and provision for all the household needs. When he left loneliness, solitude and the burden of responsibility all were stuck on my back. I didn't know where to start life without him , stress cripped in slowly by slowly and within a short period I was diagnosed with depression . Though my children dropped out of school at class 8 during that time ,this has turned out to be a good thing because they are the ones who have taken good care of me to the extent that I am currently healthy and happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of food quality food is the biggest challenge my family is currently facing.I am a widow with 2 children, I engage in casual jobs such as fetching water and washing clothes for the well-off neighbors.Finding work nowadays is a challenge because schools have closed, children go to fetch water for their families. This has affected my source of income leading me to having huge debt in shops .For the past one month I have been able to earn at most KES 100 twice a week, this money is inadequate to meet my household daily food requirement worth KES 200.I am currently so devastated and in fear that my children and I may find ourselves malnourished and weak due to inadequacy of food intake unlike the past few months.
