How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The goal I had all along was to complete the house that I had started building with the first transfer but hadn't completed. This is because I didn't have a good house and all I desired was to have a better and proper house since the one I've been living in is more of a makeshift one that barely shields us. Therefore, getting this house makes me so happy as it something that I have desired for so long.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Generally, GiveDirectly did so well and I am personally so grateful because we got enrolled and benefitted from the program. Through it, I was able to get a house and I am no longer worried about going to sleep while having eaten nothing like before. I see nothing that it didn't not do right or well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of the transfer which was almost around KES 50000 to complete building my house that I had started building with the first transfer but hadn't completed it. This is because it was my main aim and desire to have a better and proper house since I had been living in a makeshift house which used to hardly shield us. I didn't have a job that could give me the ability to build myself a better and proper house, as I only depended on a few casual jobs that were mostly weeding in people's farms for a little pay. Therefore, I am now so happy that I have a better and proper house, like any other person all thanks to GiveDirectly.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received the money because it was something that I had wished for so long to help me address the challenges I was facing. I so much needed a house because I didn't have one of my own, therefore, I was happy when I got the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now happier and with a peace of mind because I am about to have my own house, unlike before when I used to sleep in a borrowed one. I am so happy.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of my transfer which was KES 40000 on my house that is still in the process of completion because I didn't have one before. I used to sleep in a borrowed one which required me to put up with inconveniences and interruptions by the owners, which is the very reason I do much desired to have my own. I am so grateful, happy and proud that it's only a matter of time and I'll be sleeping comfortably in my own house, free from any inconvenience and interruption or interference. I also spent KES 7500 on buying three goats because that was the next thing on my to-do list and an investment that will live on and I will be able to count on, to address some of the challenges I will face in the future. They will be a source of food, in milk for my family as well as in the event of any celebration, I won't have to buy one since I'll be having a couple. I am so happy and grateful, all thanks to GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a semi-permanent house for my family. Currently, I am staying in a small grass-thatched house that is leaking during rainy season. I am planning to spend my entire first transfer to construct a two-bedroom house so that we live a decent life. I will further spend KES 3000 of my second transfer to buy 10 goats that will act as a long time investment project to my household. I will invest the remaining amount in my children's educational needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. Waking up healthy together with the rest of my family makes me feel happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial instability has been the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life.This has forced me to stay in a small grass hatched for long because I don't have money to construct a decent house.
