Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my new goal is to buy another cow. We had use part of my transfers to buy a cow as an investment so that we can be able to raise enough money to buy another piece of land. My plan is to sell the cows when they reproduce to buy another piece of land.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
My husband inherited a piece of land where we have built our house. We could not do farming because we did not have enough farming land. If we did farming, it means we would have to lease in a piece of land in which we used to pay through part of our harvest mostly. It was very costly because most of the plots in my area are used up so they are not very productive. This meant we would have to split our harvest so ut was very discouraging to farm. This is why we saved part of our transfers and used them to buy a piece of land where we do our farming. Now I can farm peacefully.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I know I will be having another piece of land. M<y plan is to save part of my monthly transfers so that IO can buy another cow. I know the cow will reproduce which will increase the number of cows I own. I will also benefit from milk by selling some to earn a small income but my main goal is to use the cows to buy my own plot. I will sell the cows to raise money to buy a piece of land where I will be doing my farming. I feel I have been missing a lot when I do not farm. I want to be more productive.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
One of the additional goals that I have and which I take priority in is that of buying additional livestock. Cows have always been of great help to us whenever we want to do any major thin like buying a piece of land. They help us in meeting the extra cost of such.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is the cow that I was able to buy with the transfers through the merry go round contributions that we took part in. I chose to do this so that we as a family can move towards being financially independent and being able to meet any financial emergencies that may come our way. We have also been able to buy a piece of land after my husband took a loan and we are planning to put it under tea plantation once we have enough money.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to have changed in that we shall have a tea plantation in the piece of land that we have already bought. The tea plantation is a long term plan that will enable us meet other basic and fundamental family expenses like paying school fees for our children in future. Tea is one of the most lucrative form of cash crop in our place and we are really looking forward to having one within the next six months.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am happy that I get to save some money every month through a merry-go-round. It will be my turn to receive the collections in the next two months. These savings will enable me to buy a cow. We had sold the cow which we had and spent the money on buying a piece of land. Since then we have been buying milk for use at home and it is our plan to buy our own very soon.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, as a family, we thought of obtaining a loan and purchase more piece of land to add one which we had purchased previously. This idea came as we are assured of repaying back the loan with the money which we usually receive from GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
We have a small piece of land which we inherited from our parents. Recently, we leased a piece of land which we then cultivate and plant some maize. I together with my husband love farming but we have been yearning to acquire more space to carry out the activity to enable us to earn income and get enough food for the family. I am happy now that we were able to lease that piece of land and purchase the farm inputs with part of the transfers which we received from GiveDirectly. I thank this organization for enabling us to achieve our dream.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, we would have bought a dairy cow and buy a piece of land. This two are the main priorities which we got at the moment. We intend to plant tea on the piece of land that we shall have bought so that we can have a reliable source of income.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Having savings in a merry go round group is one of the big differences in my life. I depend on menial jobs especially tea plucking for other people to earn a living. The wages are too low to meet my needs let alone to save. The ability to save using the transfers has improved my life in that I will be able to help my husband in buying a parcel of land. Food was also a problem to get as we used to rely only on the little we could get from doing odd jobs but and I am glad that this has changed since we now produce most products on a leased farm. We have used the transfers to lease a piece of land and to buy some farm inputs. Additionally, I have a cow that is now in lactation. Both of these have significantly reduced the cost of living making it manageable unlike before.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
As a family, we have an additional goal which is to buy a piece of land in addition to what we already bought. My husband and I will be saving a part of the monthly transfers and use it to pay for the parcel that we have already been offered.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have managed to lease a piece of land unlike before. Jointly with my husband, we decided to use the money we received over the last four months on farming food crops, especially maize. This is because we needed to produce maize for feeding our family in order to reduce the daily household expenditure in buying maize flour. This means that for the first time, we will be having our own maize flour and this will enable us to save a lot because we will not be buying them. Having a maize crop has enabled me to plan on how to save part of the transfers towards buying a parcel of land which I have been desiring to do.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to have reduced the reliance on working for others on the farms in order to put food on the table. Apart from taking care of the cow we now own, I will also be working on my own farm to produce food crops for my family. These activities are more beneficial than the odd jobs I have to do for very low wages. I expect to make a better living working on my own farm over the next six months.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because we harvested a large amount of maize from a farm that we had leased from our neighbor. As a result, we have saved a lot of money that could have been used to buy maize. Besides, we sold the surplus to attain more income for use in buying other food items including milk and sugar. Moreover, we have adequate food for consumption since we buy in bulk using most of the GD's transfer unlike before when we used to repay a loan that we had obtained from a local financial firm. After fully settling the loan, we feel more free, happy and inspired to even seek more loans because we have learnt that we have the capacity to repay them, especially when GD transfers are still available.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The new or additional goal for my life for the next four months is that of acquiring an additional piece of land. With the significant savings that we currently make, I strongly believe that we shall have fully paid the required amount of money and secure the land. We have been residing and farming in a relatively congested farm. As a result, we could raise a limited number of cows and plant small acreage of land. Subsequently, inadequacy of food as been a norm in our family. Hence, the additional farmland is vital for the growth and expansion of our farming practices.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have saved a relatively large amount of money. Initially, we used to spend a lot of money buying food items, especially maize. Fortunately, we had invested the earlier GD transfers on leasing a piece of land and planted maize. We harvested the maize about three months ago. We were lucky with regards to the farming because we reaped heavily from the maize crop. We harvested more than what we could consume, and thus sold the surplus to gain some income that was used to buy other food items. Overall, we saved money which we could have otherwise used to buy food. As a result, we accumulated some significant amount of money and used as a deposit for a piece of land that we intended to buy. Hence, I strongly believe that our dream of attaining more land will materialize, thanks to the GD's transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change a lot in the next six months because we shall have more land for farming and subsequently expect more income from the sale of farm products including milk and crops. After securing the additional acreage, we shall plant more crops and ensure our cows are well fed to provide more milk. Besides, I will be spending more time on my farm, and significantly reduce the amount of time and energy that I could otherwise be spending on my neighbors' farm. There be a switch on the main source of income from the casual work that I normally do at my neighbors' farm to being self-employed and working on my farm. Thanks a lot GD for giving us a helping hand at the best time in our life.
