How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Stating a shop on my farm is one big improvement in my life. I am going to be getting money from the business that I will run in the shop. Located in the village, where I run another business means that I am going to get a good start since I already have a large customer base from my milk vending business. I am sure that this business will thrive.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDireclty did so well by amicably working within my village. In the end, no one is complaining and no quarrels as would happen when working with a large number of people. I admire the charisma with which the staff approached us. They did so well in engaging us for the project.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the money I received on construction in a small shop. I am striving hard to complete the building because I need to start a business. I am an established trader in the village where I trade in milk. Most of the women who bring milk to me also need to go home with household items. They have several asked me to start a shop so that instead of me giving them cash, I give them the items they need and deduct it from their milk mone I then used part of the money in milk business and wait for the building to be complete. I will withdraw the money and use it to stock the shop.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I have been able to improve my business. I am optimistic that I will make more investments and profits going forward and improve my living standards and that of my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I saw the message at around 6:00 am that day and I told my husband about the good news. He was overwhelmed as well. We quickly got down to work and planned on how we were going to put the money into good use. We felt so much indebted to God for the 'miracle' of the moment.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used all of my recent transfer to build a canteen within my village. I thought of this business opportunity having worked with people from my village in another business that I was running. They always reminded me and pushed me to invest my money in a small scale retail since this would improve my business as well as earn me more profits. I am looking forward to stocking my canteen with foodstuffs and other goods once I receive my second transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a business woman who buys and sells milk.Depending on this one business has been a challenge because of varying seasons.I therefore want to open a retail shop when I receive this money.I believe this business will pick because my target customers are the ones that I buy milk from.I will build a structure in my farm since it is strategically located beside the road. This will save me the expense of paying rent. The cost of building and buying stock will cost me Ksh 40,000(400 USD).My husband is also a business man and part of the money will go to his business. He sells firewood to schools.I also want to fence my compound using mesh wire so that I can rear chicken.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The early hours of the morning are my happiest because that is when I do my business.By around 10 am ,I am usually through with collecting and selling milk.I am more happy when I get more customers to collect milk from.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Providing the basic needs for my family has been the biggest hardship in my life.I was forced into business by the increasing family needs.Initially I depended on crop farming but it has not been reliable in the recent past. This is due to the climatic changes and crop diseases. Two years ago my husband gave me capital to start buying milk from the villagers then selling at a profit to other dealers.I have six children and it has not been easy.During the dry season there is shortage of milk which affects the business. The dry season is longer than the rainy season. My future plan is diversifying my business by having a variety of them. All these requires capital which has been a problem all along.
