How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have lived the entire past of my life as a casual laborer and housewife thus raising an income to sustain my household daily basic needs had been so hard due to scarce resources. I had lived in a single grass-thatched hut and I had planned to build another one but overwhelming basic needs could not allow me to have one. My life is currently different from how it would have been if I had never received the transfer in that I was able to build a decent iron-roofed house that could not have happened without transfer. We majorly depended on casual jobs and it had been so hard for us raising our family basic needs since our income if not on a regular basis. Currently, We own a motorcycle that has greatly changed our lives in that my husband used it as a motorcycle taxi hence getting us daily income that can cater for our daily basic needs and save some for our future lives. I also bought a cow that I am so proud of, am engaged in my farm looking after it and am sure that soon I will have milk from my farm for both household consumption and sale. I see my cow as an asset that with time will reproduce hence will have more cows that will be my security for any financial needs arising in the future. With GD transfers, I have hopes of a better future for what I have started with.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
For the shorter period of time that GiveDirectly has been our village, It has been great and full of blessing our lives have greatly changed. GiveDirectly is firm, fair, trustworthy, equity, honesty among other values. I have no complaints against them I feel should change.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I majorly depend on my husband who is a masonry for my family daily basic needs and other financial necessities. It has been hard for him providing for us since his job is rarely found and since we depend on farming that takes longer to mature, our daily basic needs had been sometimes hard to get. When I received my second transfer I used to buy a motorcycle that is used by my husband whenever he is going for his work and when he has no job he use it for as a tax hence we currently have a daily income that has improved our living standard in that we no longer get into debts, stay idle due lack of casual jobs thus getting basic needs easier than before.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has a great difference in that I feel so happy to have acquired a cow that will be a source of income to my family. When it calves, I will be selling milk. This will boost my income generation to cater for my family needs and also pay school fee for my children in future.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received this transfer I felt so happy and overwhelmed that I went to my neighbors house to share the joy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer in buying a cow. I have been buying milk on a daily basis. Having my own cow will enable me to save money that I would have, otherwise, used in buying milk, hence spending on something else. I also bought some building materials for building a new house since the one I am living on is very congested and leaking.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always wished to be able to own a cow to provide milk for my family.Aside from that,my spouse and I got a very small piece of land from our parents to cultivate. Its produce is hardly enough to feed my family and hence this has made us incur extra costs of purchasing maize and milk.Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a dairy cow as well as lease another piece of land to cultivate
What is the happiest part of your day?
My day starts at 7:00 Am when I wake up to prepare breakfast for the family. When I am done I go out to look for casual jobs at my neighbour's place.Sometimes I plough their farms, weed and plant.Later in the afternoon I take my parent's cows to the river since they are old and cannot do it on their own.On the days that I am able to secure a job to do, it makes me very happy because I know that my family will have a meal for the day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We have not experienced rainfall for a long time.As such, the farms have not been producing enough food to feed my family. My spouse and I do not have a stable source of income hence we are never sure of being able to provide what the family needs. This os the biggest hardship I have faced
