Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My husband's sudden death affected me deeply because we had spent almost every coin we had on his treatment. My son approached me with the good news that I had received the promised transfer from GiveDirectly while I was pondering my options about where I would get money for his treatment. It was the most reassuring news that calmed my nerves, and I was grateful for the organization's outstanding service.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Receiving funds from GiveDirectlyy made it easier for us to cover funeral expenses. This would not have been the case if we had not received the transfer because we would have had to borrow money for my husband's final send-off. I will be eternally grateful for the support that gave us a shoulder to lean on when we were down.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
GiveDirectly's assistance arrived at precisely the right time. This is because I had recently lost my beloved husband. It was the most difficult time for my family because we were broke due to the medical expenses incurred during his treatment. We were almost out of ideas for where to get the money for his final farewell. Fortunately for us, we received the promised transfer on time, and we spent the entire amount that arrived promptly on funeral expenses. I am overjoyed and grateful to the organization that came to our aid when we needed it the most.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Receiving this money will bring a paradigm shift in my life. I have known no peace of mind because of the debtors who are at my doorstep every day. I would rather have nothing but at least have the much-needed calm after the loss of my husband.I plan to use $500 to repay all the debts that we accumulated during the funeral. It has been hard, debtors had given me deadlines to refund their money which I didn't have. I want to sincerely thank GiveDirectly for their help in uplifting the lives of people like me who are afflicted by suffering.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have had nothing to smile about at all, my husband's health deteriorated during the last 6 months. He was completely ravaged by the disease and underwent a lot of pain, he could not move nor do anything, and had lost a lot of weight, cancer is really bad. Those were the lowest moments of my life. He finally succumbed to the disease, I am still aggrieved and have debts I am yet to repay. I have lived a life of anguish and destitution. I do not remember the last time I had an easy life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have a debt of $500, my husband died sometime this month and we borrowed money towards funeral expenses, the owners of the money want their money back and I am wondering what to give them.I am so stressed, I hardly sleep. My life has turned for the worse, life has been unkind to me.I sold the only cow I had to meet the medical expenses. We used a lot of money towards his medication , he had been wasted by cancer and had been undergoing chemotherapy.
