Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money from GiveDirectly I was really very happy and thankful. I knew that these transfers would change my life a lot.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I thank GiveDirectly because were it not for this financial support, I wouldn't have managed to build a good house. I am at peace now because I got a good house. I am happy because I can now access a good shelter, unlike the previous house which was nearly collapsing since it was unstable from the roof.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent some amount from my first transfer to buy building materials for constructing a new house, I also spend some money to buy some beddings for my family to replace the old clothes we were using as beddings. Also, I bought a solar panel for lighting purposes in my household. This has helped me to save the money I would otherwise use in buying paraffin. On the remaining amount, I bought some decent clothes and food for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to construct a three roomed iron roofed house since the one roomed hut we currently live in with my spouse and three children is smaller than our family size. I also plan to buy a dairy heifer that will be our daily source of income in future whenever we sell milk. I will then use the remaining part of my transfer to buy food and clothing for my children and spouse.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The kind of jobs i engage in so as to support my family needs, ie. Walking long distance in search of jobs like land cultivation, are never reliable. Being able to secure work to do so as to support my family needs and more specifically food at the end of the day is the only source of my happiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Cultivating people's farms is what i do most to earn a living. Such jobs are never readily available since most people around prefer tilling their own lands due to lack of finances to employ others. Most of the sometimes, i am forced to walk long distance in search of employment and sometimes i come back home feeling depressed after being unable to secure one, since i am the bread winner of my family. This is the biggest hardship i face
