How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has taken a different trajectory because as an elder brother in our family, I have been able to pay school fees for my siblings and helped them continue with their education uninterrupted. My sister is currently doing her bachelors at Mount Kenya University, and I am so proud of her as an elder brother. I have been very supportive to her all along especially when I got the transfers from Give Directly and paid her fees for the entire semester well in advance.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
Paying school fees for my siblings still remains to be a top priority for me because I want to make sure that they have quality education and they should never be sent back home due to lack of fees payments. So for me to be able to do so, I have to make sure that I save as much as I can week in week out so that the lads go to school and attain the elusive education.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the last transfers on buying a new PlayStation machine which I have been using to run my business back here in Mathare. I spent approximately 20000 KES to acquire the machine, which has so far generated some profits. On top of the PlayStation machine, I had to purchase a brand new TV screen which works alongside the PlayStation machine and it acts as a projector for the PlayStation gadget. Once I was done with the PlayStation machine, I made sure that I paid my rent arrears in full amount as well as paying school fees for my siblings who have always been depending on me as their elder brother.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it would have been had I never received the transfer in that I now have a stable source of income to cater for my basic needs. In the past, I used to struggle to cater for my basic needs as I only depended on an old machine which has few games and the income I got was not constant and little to meet my daily needs. I used my transfers to buy a new machine which is upgraded and has variety of games and therefore most children enjoy the games and always come to play. This therefore is a constant source of income to cater for my basic needs.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
My new goal that I did not have before receiving the transfer is to built a new house in my rural home. I am planning to save the income I get from my business so that I can use it to buy building materials. This is because currently, I am living in a small house and when I get married the house will not accommodate all my family members comfortably.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my recent transfer to buy a machine where children play. This is because the machine is upgraded compared to the one I had in the past. Some parents have always been asking me to buy the new machine since it has more games compared to the old one. Currently, I have so many children coming to play hence more income. I also used part of my transfer to pay school fees for my sister. This is because the money she gets from the Higher Education Loans Board is not enough to pay her school fees and cater for her basic needs.
