How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I live more comfortable life than before. I wouldnt have gotten money to renovate the house which is currently my source of joy. I also attribute hairdressing business to the support that I got from the organization. I'm very sure that this could have taken more ages before it materialize. I recall that I did not have money to begin it yet I had completed college pursuing the same. Thanks to the organization for the support.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I feel GD helped many people by financially supporting them. Had it not for the transfers, I wound not have begun new hairdressig business which is currently family's source of income. There is nothing worth mentioning that GD has done wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfers was largely spent in improvement of my house which was mud thatched at the time the transfers came in. I have been struggling to do this for couple of years by now but I had no source of income. So when the money came, I kicked out the mud that was attached to it. I bought timber, nails and hired a person who replaced the mud with timber. As at now, my house is looking nice and presentable. I am not ashamed of bringing in visitors as the house is also furnished with chairs, tables and very soon a TV set will be installed. I also spent the other balance in procurements of maize for my family consumption. Maize is our staple food and we cannot do without. To ensure I do not run out stock I procured more of these.
