Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was 7:30 AM when I saw the message notification confirming that I had received my transfer. I felt wow! I just wish you could see how I reacted. I am so grateful tO GiveDirectly for fulfilling their promise to me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I am now a proud owner of a pair of oxen. Previously I was using my own hand to do the farming because I did not have the required tools for farming and due to this, I was always getting low yields. Having the pair of oxen was the only permanent solution and I am now a happy farmer. In addition to that, it will relieve me of the cost of hiring from my neighbors instead I will be saving the money. In the next planting season, I am assured of enough food is available for my family.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer on buying some livestock such as a pair of oxen. I opted in buying this pair so that it would help me in my farming activities. I also bought some beddings such a new wooden bed, a mattress, and some bedsheets to replace the old mats that I have been using. The remaining amount of money, I used it in buying some enough foodstuffs for my family and some other household items that I was lacking.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a widow who is jobless and has failed to educate my kid. Receiving this transfer means I will be able to clear all the $ 40 fee balance for my child who is in high school this will create room for her to finish her schooling. I am planning to spend $15 to repair my house which is almost collapsing.I will use the extra amount to purchase at least 10 goats. This will be a long term investment to me because I will be able to sell them when they multiple.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My most relaxing time is in the afternoon after spending the rest of morning hours burning charcoal for sale.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of good resources has been my biggest challenge in my life. I depend on charcoal burning this earns me $ 4 in a week which is not enough to fulfill my family needs.
