How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The change in my life currently is that, we are happy because GiveDirectly enabled us to complete construction of my house which has given it beauty. Earlier on, my house was ugly because I had not plastered it due to lack of money which did not give it shape.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well through empowering communities to build houses and improve on their livelihoods with the cash transfers channeled electronically. Secondly, they endeavor to call beneficiaries for follow up and if you are not reached on phone they try their best, follow you up to home as a means of ensuring that the beneficiary has got his/her transfer. I do not see any short fall.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer for buying a bull worth UGX 1,100,000 in order to support my household in ploughing. We use bulls in our culture for ploughing since it gives a lesser cost compared to a tractor. The balance of UGX 532,000, I spent it on buying cement, sand and murram for flooring my house not forgetting feeding and payment for labour.
