Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer I felt so happy and overwhelmed with joy. I remember it was around 9am. I was on my way home from the river to collect, when I heard a ringtone message from my phone. I stopped to checked out, I couldn't believe my eyes I have never received such amount of money. I felt to happy. I rushed home and went to withdrew the money go same day. I knew I would be able to buy a dairy cow.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I depend on casuL jobs in the village. I always wake up very early in the morning to work on people's farm and get paid. The amount of money that I get is KES 300 per day. Due to so many responsibilities to handle I had no extra money to saved. I had always wished to buy a dairy cow but it didn't had money. When I received the transfer from GiveDirectly I decided to buy a dairy cow. Currently I have enough milk for my family members and I sell the surplus. I am able to saved the money that I could have used to buy milk to spend on other household items. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 30,000 to purchase a dairy cow.I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me because I do not have a continuous source of income. I depend on casual jobs in the village. I bought a motorcycle on hire purchase, I deposited KES 15,000 and the rest I will pay on installment. I am so happy because this project generate an income daily. The rest of the money I bought food and clothes for my children. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
It means a lot to me and my life because my life will change for the better especially for my child. This money will enable me to have a stable income because I am a casual labour earning $3 per day which does not sustain me in providing basic needs such as food and good housing for my children.I will purchase and keep livestock and this will generate income through selling milk.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening.I usually wake up and leave the house by 8 Am to go and fend for my family. The day that I sell,I become very happy because my family will get food to eat that evening.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is financial constraints.I do casual jobs which are not stable.I dig smearing soil which I sell to earn money. It earns me $3 per day when I work.Sometimes I also lack basic needs such as food for my family which stresses me.
