I used to have a shop, but it was not doing well due to lack of enough stock. I have been able to restock my shop and am now getting more customers. I now have a reason to wake up in the morning since I have a business to run. I was able to buy a gas cylinder and this has brought a major change in my family, in that my children are able to prepare breakfast before they walk to school, before it was a big challenge, they would at times go to school without breakfast but now am happy they have something to take in the morning. I would request GiveDirectly to still continue supporting us since they are bringing alot of changes in our lives

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong that GiveDirectly does. GiveDirectly has only done well buy empowering people in our village. It has really elevated my life, I have seen myself moving from one level to another. I have been able to feed my family, paid my childrens school fees which was a bit difficult previously. I have seen my fellow villagers progress well, and have built houses for themselves.

I spent my second transfer in paying school fees for my four children. Three of them are in secondary school and one is in primary school. I am so happy that for this whole year I will not have to pay school fees. I have also hired or rented a farm so that I can plant sugarcane. This will come in handy so that by next year I will still have money to pay for my children their fee. I was also able to buy some mattresses and beds for some of my relatives, they were really in a bad shape, and seeing them sleep on good beddings is a joy.

The biggest difference in my life since I received this transfer is that I was able to lease in a piece of land which I will use for planting sugarcane. From experience with other villagers, I have seen their lives change from the sale of sugarcane. Since it is harvested three times and the input takes place once, the profit margin is always reasonable. I have always desired to plant sugarcane because I know from it my life will help solve some of my family financial demands. This is a dream which has been accomplished with the help of GD. The profit from the sales of my sugarcane will be used to start a retail shop which will expand our source of income and help meet my family financial needs.

When I received this transfer fro GD, I was very happy. I thought it was an empty promise as it has always been the case with other NGOs which have worked in our area. Before even using the transfer, I felt my life had already changed. This was one of my happiest moments this year.

I spent my first transfer on buying building materials such as cement and sand which I used to plaster my house. My wife and I have been planning to plaster our house for a year now. During the rainy seasons, the mud on the walls would fall off and this would force me to smear the walls every month which was hectic. I thought plastering was a good idea for it will make my house durable and save me from smearing regularly. I want to direct my income on other financial needs such as paying school fees. The rest of the of the transfer I used to lease in a piece of land which I want to use in planting sugarcane. This has been my plan for sometime but it has not been possible because of my low income from casual work.
