How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I want to ensure that I have enough utensils at home for example a big sufuria and buy more cups. RThis will help me and my mum avoid borrowing whenever we have visitors. I will put aside little by little of the transfers and use them to buy the utensils. This will be alongside paying school fees for my daughter.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
We were given the money equally...everyone received equal amounts. Do not change anything about the program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have a daughter in a private school and I used some of the transfer to pay for her school fees. I also used some of the money on Christmas celebrations. I am a farmer and at home with my parents and I have 1 daughter.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I've longed to achieve self-reliance, as depending on casual jobs are quite challenging. Therefore, in the upcoming year and beyond, I have aspirations to establish my own retail shop business. I've gained valuable experience working in similar businesses for others, and I possess the necessary skills. I also know where to procure goods at wholesale prices, which will be advantageous for my venture. To kickstart this endeavor, I'm planning to save from the income I generate from farming cabbage. I believe that opening my own shop will serve as my financial breakthrough. Once the business gains traction, it will enable me to not only support my child but also provide for my entire family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I must commend GiveDirectly for their excellent work in providing unconditional cash transfers. This approach empowers individuals to make choices that best suit their needs and aspirations. Through these transfers, I've witnessed the enhancement of various economic development initiatives and greater diversity within my community. This kind of support encourages innovation and progress, which is truly beneficial for our community's growth and well-being.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am deeply thankful for GiveDirectly transfers as they have consistently eased my financial burdens. When I received my recent transfer, it arrived at a crucial time, coinciding with the reopening of schools. I was concerned about how I would manage to pay my child's school fees to ensure they weren't sent home. Fortunately, just before the school term began, I received my transfer from GiveDirectly. Without hesitation, I transferred the entire amount, which was $29, to the school account. This timely support has brought immense relief and peace of mind, allowing my child to focus on her studies without worries.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My main goal for next year is to gather enough money to purchase kitchen utensils because the ones I have are insufficient. When I have visitors, I constantly have to borrow from my neighbors, which reduces my self-esteem. I look forward to the transfers from GiveDirectly changing my status in society and making me shine in all spheres of life. My budget for this goal is $100, which I intend to fund with my subsequent transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly, in my opinion, does well by providing us with transfers that have helped us to live respectable lifestyles. I have been able to send my kid to school without going broke because I am always assured of my monthly transfers. Furthermore, the organization continuously monitors the transfers to ensure they are used wisely.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a member of a merry-go-round group in which I save $10 every month; the group comprises four members. Through my most recent transfer, I was able to pay my membership fee on time, which boosted my savings. Through the group's financial support, my standard of living has been enhanced because I can always afford anything I want whenever I receive my share. I used $10 of the transfer to pay for my first-grade daughter's school tuition so that she can have a bright future. I also bought her a new school uniform for $4 because she had been wearing her home clothes to school. She was overjoyed to receive a new outfit. I spent the remaining $5 on food for my family.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In the coming year and beyond my plan is to save and buy household such as blankets, bed sheets and kitchen utensils. My motivation for buying this household items is to avoid borrowing from neighbors whenever we have visitors. Thank you GiveDirectly for this transfers is what will see me achieve this goal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What I love about this organization is that everyone is friendly and the determination to uplift people's living standards is evitable. On the other hand nothing went wrong up to now.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Having a group of us in our village saving with intentions of achieving our dreams has been the best so far. With the recent transfer, I saved KES 1000. Being a group of ten members, the savings has helped me buy more kitchen utensils in our house. I also bought food for my family of five which has cushioned us from the drought. I am glad that I did not have to struggle with casual jobs which are hard to get. Thanks so much GiveDirectly. I finally bought shoes since I had old ones.
